"Feeder" Yard Update

My brother, of the "Is Your Yard a Looker or a Feeder?" post fame (here), just sent me updated pictures of his garden. He says the tomato plants are 6-8 feet tall. Here's a picture of a recent harvest over 2 days. The three large ones at the top middle of the photo each weighed in at over 40 ounces!!! Note the quarter resting on the red/yellow one for scale. Wow!

Here's a picture of his garden in early May.....
And two pictures taken a few days ago...

The moral of the story is this: give me a feeder any day! Or as Leigh mentioned in the comments of the last post - combine the two. But definitely going forward - no more lookers for me! - Carrie

  1. This is something I had to think through when we were deciding on a trellising system for the tomatoes and other vining plants. We went with cattle panel because it's the most durable system I've seen, but it's definitely not something most people would think of putting in their backyard. I'm not too concerned, though; I like it, and our melons are growing up it like crazy!

Thanks for visiting! It's my dream backyard, too! Slowly working towards something in the same vain.

I also wasn't familiar with cattle panel. Looks great though. Sort of industrial-chic! And certainly looks sturdy enough to get the job done.

Is this easily available and can you give us some idea on price? Thanks! - Carrie
